Chief Financial Officer
Tim Fernback brings over twenty years of finance, business development and mergers & acquisitions experience with technology companies. He is the former Senior Manager for the technology consultancy, Discovery Capital Corporation, a prominent Canadian venture capital firm, and the former Division Manager for the Investment Banking and Corporate Finance divisions for the respected western Canadian-based brokerage firm, Wolverton Securities Ltd, raising over $750 million, and taking over 60 companies public in North America.
After over a decade as a senior executive within the financial services sector, Tim was a founding share-holder and led all finance & business development initiatives for Aquigenyx Pharmaceuticals, a global leader in targeted therapeutics. (Aquigenyx would eventually become Aquinox Pharmaceuticals Inc. and list on the NASDAQ Global Market under the symbol AQXP). Subsequent to this, Mr. Fernback founded another technology company along with two Stanford University researchers named Upstream Biosciences Inc., a company that innovates early detection of cancer, holding the position of CFO. At Upstream, Tim led various financing initiatives of the publicly listed company, including the integration of various acquired companies and technologies into Upstream’s operations.
In 2016, Mr. Fernback joined Ronin8 Technologies Ltd. as its Chief Financial Officer. Established in 2015, Ronin8 is the world’s leading solution for the recycling of e-waste streams including printed circuit boards, solar panels, and other e-waste. Ronin8 is at the forefront of the urban mining industry, and uses proprietary, sustainable technologies and novel engineering processes to extract both metals and non-metals from e-waste streams.
Tim holds an Honours B.Sc. from McMaster University, and is a graduate of the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia, where he completed a MBA with a concentration in Finance. He holds a Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation in Canada and is an active member of many industry organizations. Mr. Fernback is the current director of several publicly traded companies, and a former director of a mid-sized private technology fund in Canada.< go back
